Join Us in Strengthening the Future of CVE

At the CVE Foundation, we are focused on preserving and expanding the CVE Program as a globally trusted source for vulnerability identification. Here is how we are moving forward—and how you can help.

Our Priorities

  • Building sustainable, independent funding sources. We are developing diverse funding streams to ensure the CVE Program remains independent, financially secure, and able to grow with the evolving vulnerability landscape.
  • Deepening stakeholder engagement. CNAs, Roots, and community contributors are the lifeblood of CVE. We are working to elevate their voices and increase their role in shaping the program.
  • Staying true to our core mission. We are focused solely on CVE—no distractions, no divergence from what matters most. Learn more about our mission.
  • Driving collaboration with CISA and MITRE. We aim to maintain a strong partnership with CISA and MITRE to support the CISA ICS and MITRE roots and the MITRE-run CNA of last resort functions, while helping expand the program globally.
  • Modernizing CVE technology. We are bringing in state-of-the-art engineering practices to build scalable services for both CVE producers and consumers.

What We’re Doing Now

  • Finalizing our nonprofit status. We have submitted our 501(c)(3) application and are working with federal and state entities to complete our registration.
  • Standing up our leadership and operations. We have formed our Board of Directors and our executive and operational teams are preparing to execute on our mission and vision.
  • Engaging global partners. We are cultivating strong relationships with cybersecurity and vulnerability management leaders around the world.
